In case you have no idea what I'm talking about:
- Mark and I have moved to Vancouver, BC, Canada for one year till next July
- We have moved into a really nice apartment in North Vancouver and furnished it with amazing thrift store (charity shop) furniture
- We catch a ferry to get to downtown Vancouver, takes about 12 minutes
- We spent our first week road tripping to the Rockies. Saw lots of wildlife, camped in backcountry campground and did some good hiking.
- Returned to Vancouver where we applied for dozens of jobs and joined up to agencies.
- Seems like the fun jobs (mountain host, touristy nature guide...) pay minimum wage which won't give us enough pocket money to have a car, go skiing. So might have to do less fun jobs in offices...
- But in the mean time we are in Whistler for a week waitering/waitressing at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler for a big conference, see next post.
Here is the first Grizzly bear we have seen in Canada, very close to our tent although it had wandered off by the time we collected ourselves and found a camera. Note the people in far left, we had to whistle to them as they hadn't noticed him!:
